There is clearly some of that, but I have also seen evidence of intellectual vitality on the Wikipedia, as well as a format for debate that is open and unprecedented in terms of its scalability. I know there are folks in IS who are very wary and even hostile to it, but no one, in so far as I know, has argued it is definitive. Rather, it is one leaping off point among many for seeing what the collective Wikipedian community has come up with.
I do not know a lot about it yet. Having heard so much about it before I've really taken the time to look at its content, I'd like to set my bias back a bit.
